Welcome...

I love Korean culture, mostly the music and the dramas, so I thought I'd share my thoughts here.

K-Drama Review: Who Are You

Earlier this week was the finale of Who Are You starring So E-Hyun, Taecyeon and Kim Jae-Wook. The basics of the storyline is that Detective Yang Si-On (So E-Hyun) woke up after being in a coma for 6 years and is able to see ghosts. She's a police officer and is assigned to be the team leader of the Lost & Found department. Detective Cha Gun-Woo (Taecyeon) is already a member of this department after being put on suspension from the Special Investigations Unit. Si-On begins to solve crimes from the help of clues that she learns through the ghosts who are attached to items in the Lost & Found storage. Gun-Woo doesn't believe in ghosts so this causes a bit of tension between them. Lee Hyung-Joon (Kim Jae-Wook) is a ghost and a part of Si-On's past.

I was rather disappointed with this drama. I thought the writing was lack luster, the chemistry between the two leads could have been better and some of the acting was pretty bad. I was impressed with Kim Jae-Wook. He did a great job. It seems that Taecyeon's acting is getting worse or he needs to be cast in a better drama. He was better in Cinderella's Stepsister and even in Dream High. One of the problem's was that there wasn't much depth to his character but at least he's good looking. The chemistry between him and So E-Hyun wasn't that great. I mean he had better chemistry with Suzy in Dream High and she couldn't really act back then.

There are other dramas that I would recommend but if you're in the mood for something light then this would be a good pick. There's romance, comedy, mystery and suspense. Sadly, Taecyeon doesn't have any shirtless scenes but sometimes life likes to hold out on us.

That's it for now.

Cheers. x

Top 10 K-Drama Kisses

Any K-Drama fan knows that kiss scenes can be hella awkward but there are some that don't make you cringe in embarrassment. Here is my list from 10 of the dramas I've watched.

#10. Flower Boy Next Door, Episode 11

Okay, so this one is kind of awkward because park Shin Hye doesn't really do anything when she gets kissed but I just love this drama so much and Yoon Si Yoon's acting was great. The arguing. The walk across the room. The single tear sliding down Enrique's cheek. So cheesy but I loved it.

#9. The Musical, Episode 2

I liked all of the kiss scenes from this movie but the first one was just so adorable. She wasn't ready to be kissed so she covered her mouth and instead of making it awkward he kisses her hands. I just thought that was pretty cute and Choi Daniel's smile is to die for.

#8. The  I Hear Your Voice, Episode 14

I actually thought Hye Sung wouldn't choose Soo Ha in the end because of their age difference but she did and Soo Ha was so unbelievably happy. I mean if I could make a guy smile the way he did, I'd feel amazing. It was just a peck but it didn't have to be a long, drawn out kiss. Everything that led up to it made it special.

#7. Can We Get Married?, Episode 1

So I never actually finished this drama but I was a bit surprised by the kiss. There was lip movement and and that little nuzzle was adorable. I just wasn't a fan of the female lead. Sorry. I might try watching it again later on.

#6. Shut Up Flower Boy Band, Episode 6

So I tried watching 'Can We Get Married?' after seeing Sung Joon in this drama. I was a little iffy about Sung Joon being the male lead after the shocker at the end of the second episode but I warmed up to his character quicker than I thought I would because Sung Joon is an amazing actor. I thought this kiss would be really cheesy and disappointing because it took place on a rooftop at night but I was pleasantly surprised. What made this one a little extra special was the hand holding.

#5. Boys Over Flowers, Episode 9

So Lee Min-ho gets his first lead role in Boys Over Flowers and effing rocks it. Like holy plum sauce this guy can act. There were many kiss scenes to choose from in this drama. I like the kiss in the ski lodge but I like the kiss on the swing set the best. Jun Pyo had just spent the whole day with Jan Di's family and learned what it was like to have a family. We got to see a warmer side of Jun Pyo and a more serious, but not dramatic, side to his and Jan Di's relationship.

#4. Marry Me, Mary, Episode 8

Your friends have handcuffed you together, you get chased by crazy fans and end up hiding in an alley. Perfect time for a confession and kiss, right? Mu Kyul seems to think so and right he is. They finally talked through their feeling and realized their feelings for each other. I love their chemistry and the kiss was pretty much perfect.

#3. Gu Family Book, Episode 17

I started watching this drama mostly because of Sung Joon. I fell in love with this guy after Shut Up Flower Boy Band and I thought he did really well in this drama too. I was hoping he'd get a kiss scene in this drama but sadly he did not. I'm not super upset because it really wouldn't have suited his character. This was the first time I'd ever seen something with Lee SeungGi. I know. I'm sorry. I'll get around to 'My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho'. I'd seen Suzy in Dream High but her acting wasn't that great back then. It's improved a lot since then. This kiss was beautiful and when they pause and Kang Chi does that tiny little twitch of his eyebrow, I melted. Their heads were moving, their hands were moving, there were little shiny lights all around them. Then the most surprising thing happened after the pause.... Suzy went in for another kiss. Not a lot of girls do that in k-dramas.

#2. Personal Taste, Episode 16

I loved this drama. The confusion over Jin Ho's sexuality was hilarious and created so many awkward moments. There were many ups and downs in their relationship, even when they were just friends. Both characters were very stubborn and Kae-In was a little dense which made getting them together that much more difficult. It took a lot for these two to show their vulnerability to each other. When Jin Ho kissed Kae In's neck while she was drying her hair, I got goosebumps but I love the kiss in the last episode because all of their drama is behind them and they're free to love each other with fewer complications.

#1. Coffee Prince, Episode 16

Good ol' Coffee Prince. This drama was a roller coaster and a half. A lot of sexual tension made even more awkward because one of the people in the relationship thinks the other is a boy and knows he isn't gay but still isn't sure why he's attracted to a boy (who is actually a girl just trying to make ends meet). After Han-Gyul finds out that Eun-Chan is in fact a girl, he gets all upset which I understood but at the same time I thought he would have been relieved. It took a while for him to get there and after that their relationship was great aside from disapproving parents of course. The kiss before the sex scene was just wow because: 1) There are rarely scenes like and 2) This kiss was passionate. A lot of goofiness before hand because of the sexual tension and Han Gyul trying to be a gentleman when that's not what Eun Chan wants. He lifts her up and kisses her against the door. Seriously, this is one of the best kisses in k-dramas to date.

My Top 10 Flower Boys

In Korea there are "Flower Boys" which is the equivalent to metrosexual. They know fashion and how to take care of themselves (grooming wise). In Korea, it can range from "Damn, he can really pull off a suit" to "He could be a better girl than me".
These are just my personal favourite Flower Boys out of the actors and idols I like but feel free to let me know what you think and who your favourites are :)

10. Starting off on the list is Lee Min-ho. I have totally fallen for this guy. My heart was his after watching 'Boys Over Flowers' and 'Personal Taste' was just awesome. 'City Hunter' was pretty good but it wasn't my favourite. I thought his clothes in PT and CH were much better than what he wore in BOF. Seriously, I need to find a store that sells the female versions of all the jackets and blazers he wore in PT and CH.

9. This spot goes to a recent crush of mine: Lee Jong Suk. Just look at those lips. Omo. This guy is an amazing actor and looks incredible in just about anything. In his most recent drama ‘I Hear Your Voice’ he really showed off his talent for acting and whether you put him in a school uniform, a T-shirt and jeans or a suit and tie he looks good.

8. The front man of FT Island, Lee HongKi. I will always remember him as Jeremy from ‘You’re Beautiful’. I sometimes call him Jeremy when talking about him (sorry HongKi). He’s starting to grow out of that image for me though. He definitely has his own style and a big part of that style is his nail art. I love painting my nails so I didn’t hesitate when he released his nail art book this year. I can’t understand any of the words but the pictures are great. I also read that he spends up to $45,000 a year on his nails. That’s insane, yo.

7. Some of you may not know who this next one is but he's just so adorable. His name is Teo and he is from the group Lunafly. He plays the drums, keyboard and sings. His voice is deeper than you would think after looking at those huge puppy dog eyes and baby face. He's super talented and loves to cook/eat. You can catch him and the rest of Lunafly on Arirang Radio Mondays 3pm-5pm (KST).

6. There are no words to describe how much I love Yoon Shi Yoon who played the amazing QueGeum in 'Flower Boy Next Door'. He does both comedy and drama very well and his smile just lights up the room. It took all of two minutes for me to fall in love with him.

5. No Min Woo. He used to be in TRAX as Rose, a drummer with long blonde hair and blue eye contacts. He looked like a barbie doll. He decided to focus on acting for a while starring in 'My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho' and 'Full House Take 2' and just returned to the music world this year as ICON. Just look at that beautiful face. I mean I don't understand how a man can be so pretty.

4. Here we have the drama prince himself, Jang Keun Suk. Another 'You're Beautiful' cast member. I preferred his style in 'Marry Me, Mary' but that's just me. He was also the male lead in the movie 'You're My Pet' where he does an adorable dance when at home alone. The movie was cute but the editing was a bit jumpy. Back to JKS... From pop idol to grunge rocker and now he's doing electronic music with Big Brother as Team H. He's very versatile and I think we still have a lot more to look forward to from him.

3. Taemin used to be higher on the list before he became 'Tae-Man'. SHINee's maknae is all grown up now and he just looks better and better every time I see him. It was such a shock to the system when I saw him in BoA's mv for Disturbance. Like who the hell was this guy?? He looked so familiar and when I figured out that it was him I still couldn't fully comprehend that he actually grew up.

2. I adore Kevin from U-Kiss. He is just so cute. Kiss Me's know just how good this guy is at being a girl. It's hilarious yet a little disturbing haha. He's an awesome dancer, a great singer and I love him to death.

1. In first is Ren from Nu'est. Sorry to tell you this but he's a prettier girl than you or I will ever be. This guy better not ever cut his hair short or there'll be some explaining to do. Nu'est debuted last year with 'Face' and 'Action'. 'Face' is an amazing song and the music video is just so well done. Nu'est is one of my favourites when it comes to dancing especially in 'Hello'.
